Welcome to the official Chancellor Volunteer Fire & Rescue website. We provide Fire and Emergency Medical Services to Spotsylvania County. Spotsylvania is located to the South and West of Fredericksburg, VA. Chancellor Volunteer Fire Department, as it was once called, was established in 1956. In 2003, a rescue side was formed. We have the best career/volunteer system in the country as far as we are concerned. Career personnel staff Fire/EMS from M-F 0500-1800, we staff nights and weekends. In 2004, with the help of the career personnel, we staffed two rescue stations and two fire companies 100% of the time. Around that time, we also took on a third station; Rescue Station 7 which we declared 24/7 coverage in June 2006. In January 2007, we staffed our last fire company (Company 7), 24/7 between us and the career personnel. Unexpectedly, in April 2007, we acquired Rescue Station 9 and staff the weekends and many weeknights. With the help of the career personnel, we plan to staff this station 24/7 by the end of the summer. In December 2007, we will open our fourth Fire/EMS Station (Company 10) located in the Salem Fields district. This station will be staffed 24/7 from the day it opens. We now have over 290 members, and are always seeking new members as Spotsylvania County grows at an exponential rate.
