When you volunteer in the community, you become part of the fabric that makes up the community. In this day and age, of bedroom communities and sprawl, communities are not as tight knit as they were in the old days. Volunteering in the community helps you to become more connected with the community and help to make it a better place to live.
I enjoy the challenge of fire and rescue. It allows you to test yourself and step outside of your comfort zone. Now, I am more confident and I can handle chaotic situations that I never thought I would be able to handle. I enjoy helping people. In fire and rescue, you are called to help people when they are typically at the point in their lives when they are in the most vulnerable state and are in the most need of help.
You are invited to attend an informative Volunteer Fire & EMS Recruitment Open House to learn more about volunteer opportunities in Spotsylvania County. The open houses are conducted the first Wednesday of each month (except legal holidays) at 7:00 p.m. at Fire Rescue Station #1 at 7200 Courthouse Commons Boulevard, Spotsylvania, VA.
You will see a couple of short videos that show volunteer emergency responders in action, and hear an informative presentation about volunteer fire & EMS opportunities.
This will be a great chance to learn more about the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department, Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue Squad, and Chancellor Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department. Representatives from the three agencies will be on hand to meet prospective members.
When you’re ready to give fire service & EMS a closer look, you’ll have an opportunity to participate in a “ride along” to actual emergencies with volunteer emergency responders. In fact, you can sign up for your first “ride along” at the Recruitment Open House.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how you can become a volunteer firefighter or EMS provider. Attend a Volunteer Fire & EMS Recruitment Open House at Fire Rescue Station #1 near the courthouse. There is no cost or obligation, and light refreshments will be provided. Click this link for more details:
